Why Wings?

Wings springs from the passion of caring Christians and the deep concern we have to minister to families of prisoners who have been largely shunned or ignored by our society.

In our society where children are all at risk in one way or another, children whose parent(s) are in prison, face even more challenges.

· Children of incarcerated family members are six times more likely to end up in prison.

· If current trends continue, 1 out of 20 Americans will spend time in a State or Federal Prison sometime within their lifetime. These figures are staggering

· The US has over the past 25 years built the largest prison system in the world, locking up more of its citizens than any other nation.

· Over $30 billion is spent a year incarcerating the more than 2 million people that are incarcerated in the country’s 1,500 state and federal prisons, and the nation’s 3,000 jails. What are we doing for their family members?

These parties hopefully are the beginning for many of these family members to feel welcome and become involved in a local church.
