There were 35 volunteers who came from Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Kent, WA and the greater Las Cruces area. Family members arrived early, so balloon and mixer games were played with early arrivals. 2010 Grants, NM 8th Wings Women's Prison Party
Wings Ministry hosted its 8th Wings Grants Prison Party on Feb. 6, 2010, in celebration of Valentine′s Day. There were 170 inmates and family members approved to visit and 40 volunteers came from 14 different churches throughout the Greater Albuquerque Area. We give special thanks to Central United Methodist Church for the use of their church van, which allowed the volunteers to carpool and drive many of the supplies to the prison. Jim and Lisa Harmon again took family photos, which become such treasured reminders of their special time together as a family. Warden Arlene Hickson and her son surprised us and we were so pleased to be able to thank her in person for the incredible hospitality shown us not only by her, but by her caring staff.

Cheyenne Mountain Re-entry Center in Colorado Springs, CO Dec. 2008
The first Wings Party in a Colorado Prison was held on December 20, 2008, at the Cheyenne Mountain Re-entry Center. There were 22 volunteers who helped with the party. They were from Colorado and New Mexico, at least 10 different churches and denominations, and represented at least 6 different ministries. There were about 110 people total at the party including the staff, who were very helpful, accommodating, and welcoming. Music was led by Rev. Paul Hilker on the keyboard, along with about 12 resident choir members. Of course the children helped join the choir during various songs, and everyone loved the music. Special thanks to the South Suburban Christian Church for the use of their van to get volunteers from the Denver area to the party. Special thanks to all our donors, who helped with pizza costs, a Wings volunteer who made Biscochitos – the official "cookie" of the State of New Mexico for our Colorado friends, for the Hobby Lobby in Albuquerque, who specifically gave us cards and stickers for this party, and for all the cookie bakers in many cities who gave us their home-baked goodies to share with all the residents.

2003 Grants, NM Women's Prison Party
On Saturday, February 8, 2003, Wings held a Wings party in the Grants Women's Prison in New Mexico. The Grants party was our first one inside a women's prison. It was a tremendous success. Guideposts donated 400 hand-made sweaters that we gave to children of inmates. It was so generous of them and it was needed. It snowed in Grants during the party! We are hoping to expand the in-prison Wings Ministry with more of these. It was wonderful to see families coming together to worship, have fun, and share a meal!
